Successful pathways for our pupils are intended to provide them with opportunity to move into a positive and sustained destination after school.
It is useful for our learners to be aware of growth sectors in the economy when they are making decisions about their future pathways. This can highlight to pupils if their chosen pathway will provide them with a sustainable job after they have achieved a qualification or completed their training. The Scottish Government defines the seven areas of growth as:
1. Food, Drink & Agriculture
2. Digital & Creative Industries
3. Sustainable Tourism
4. Energy & Engineering
5. Financial & Business Services
6. Life Sciences
7. Public & Service Sector
Here are the key statistics on the Scottish Government Website- https://www.gov.scot/publications/growth-sector-statistics/
Here is the Argyll and Bute Strategy- https://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/sites/default/files/economic_strategy_0.pdf
At Oban High School we ensure we work closely with local partners to support these areas of growth.
