SQA Certification 2020
We understand this is a difficult time for all of our young people who are undertaking qualifications this year to support them into further study at school or into their positive destination. We have been awaiting further information from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) as to how grades will be estimated and awarded this year.
On Thursday 2nd April 2020, the SQA provided schools and the Local Authority with this update regarding arrangements that are being put in place for certification due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the resulting cancellation of the 2020 national examination diet.
The SQA have thanked schools and the Local Authority for their support and patience during this exceptionally difficult time and we would like to also pass this onto our young people and their families. Like ourselves the SQA fully appreciate that this is an uncertain time for our learners who have worked hard throughout the year and will now, with their families, be worried about what this means for them.
With this in mind and in addition to the letter issued to pupils today (copy attached), please find below the link to the guidance for learners, parents and carers that is available on the SQA website. It aims to provide you with answers to some common questions about how the SQA will deliver a fair, safe and secure set of results over the coming months.
I would like to congratulate all our pupils and staff for engaging so well with the online courses. The efforts undertaken have been tremendous in the most difficult of circumstances. Thanks also to all the parents who have continued to encourage our youngsters to get online and make the very best of the online opportunities provided. I appreciate this is not always easy.
School Hub / FSM
Please note that we will continue to run the School Hub for children of key workers who have no childcare alternatives; and we will continue to make free school meal deliveries across the holiday.
As noted in my previous emails. If you have any questions or are in need of any support, then please contact us.
Finally, at the end of such a busy term I would like to wish you all a restful and enjoyable holiday.
Stay home, stay safe.
